What’s Happening in November?

*Thank you so much for your wonderful cards, notes, and gifts during pastor appreciation month; your encouragement and support are simply wonderful!

*You are invited to bring a hot dish to share during our usual first Sunday of the month hot dish luncheon this Sunday during fellowship.

*We have a great kick-off to our “After School at 36 Oak” program.  10-15 families who have not visited our church before are sending their children to enjoy puppet shows, games, science experiments, crafts, snacks and music each Tuesday afternoon.  Thank you for your prayers and support!

*We continue to work with the guidance office at the high school to coordinate service opportunities through our church for high school students.  Coming-up: yard work around the church and a shelter meal.  More being planned…

*Our Holiday Fair is going to be BIG!  We’ve had lots of items donated, over a dozen local crafters will have tables, and there is lunch/desserts planned.  We need help with lunch and “chaperoning” the many rooms that will have displays.  Call 866-2144 to find out how you can help.

*Church Council will meet on Sunday, November 12th right after worship.

*All are invited to join us for a service of music and word at Dirigo Pines on Sunday, November 12th at 2pm.

*We will begin a new study group on Tuesday, November 7th at 1pm; our Bishop presented “Wonder, Love and Praise: Sharing a Vision of the Church” at an event in September.  We will use this report and combine it with a study called “Christianity’s Family Tree” as we study the differences between denominations.  How is a Baptist church different than a Methodist Church?  How is a catholic church different than a Pentecostal church?  Join us Tuesdays at 1pm, Wednesday evenings at the Alton UMC at 6:30, or Sunday mornings at 9:45 at Orono UMC to find out!

*Youth group meets Sunday mornings with Kelli and Pius to journey together through a study called “All Things New,” which is based in Corinthians.

*Congrats to our United Methodist Women for receiving recognition recently at the district meeting, including Sylvia Pearson, Evelyn Dearborn, Elaine Goater, Wanda Thomas, and Alma Otto.  Way to go!  Thank you for your ministry.
