Steve Smith has been serving as Pastor of the Orono United Methodist Church since July 1^st, 2009.   After graduating fromOrono High School in 1978, Steve attended college in Rhode Island before beginning a career in radio, which brought him back to the Orono area in the mid 80s.  After developing an interest in meteorology, Steve completed the broadcast meteorology program fromMississippi State University, and began working at WLBZ-TV in Bangor, where he has served as meteorologist since May of 1994. Increasingly active in the United Methodist Church, and after completing a bachelor’s degree at the University of Maine with an emphasis on Earth Sciences, Steve enrolled at Bangor Theological Seminary and graduated in May of 2009.  After serving as pastor of the Milbridge/Wyman United Methodist Church and the Faith United Methodist Church in Columbia, along with serving as a pastoral advisor at the Cutler United Methodist Church, Steve was transferred to his hometown of Orono to serve as Pastor of the Orono United Methodist Church. Steve and his wife Judy have two sons, four grandchildren (with another on the way!)  Steve and Judy love to explore the great state of Maine and enjoy time spent with family.
